Mt.Rainier: A treehouse adventure

As I planned for my trip to Seattle the second time around, I knew I wanted to stay in a treehouse. I was determined to find one, and eventually….I found the BEST one! No cell phone service, running hot water, a heater, a small kitchen, enough room for two, an outdoor hot tub that you can rent, a huge property that you can travel and explore, a hammock, and the best part?- just 10 minutes outside of Mt. Rainier National Park.
I booked Wellspring Spa for two nights for one of my best friends and I. We rented a car, drove about 2 hours from Seattle to Wellspring, and what we came to find (in the middle of nowhere) was this amazing property with multiple cabins and a few hikes to venture on. From the moment we got to the property, we could not stop laughing. Must have been the crisp air that made us so giggly. On our way to Wellspring, we stopped at a gear store for a pit stop, and ended up leaving with a few gears we thought we needed such as gloves, sunscreen, and some snacks (they also had Wi-Fi).

The cutest display for everything we needed to know about Wellspring was just outside the parking lot, next to the most colorful garden and gazebo. Our key, a map, and a red phone to call for information and spa bookings.

We met this sweet lady as we walked up to the treehouse with a just as sweet, protective, and fluffy doggie. I believe she lives in one of the cabins and maintains the property – which came so handy for me later on. She recommended we hike the trail to explore some exploring to but also kill some time while she finished getting the treehouse all cleaned up and ready for us). At first, we were unsure of where we were going by looking at the map, but we eventually ran into a stream of ice-cold water. As we continued, we discovered a beautiful stadium seating outdoor wedding venue that was freshly left with rose petals all over the floor.

Not too long after our discoveries, we went back to our treehouse to check out what we were in store for. My first experience staying in a treehouse. We climbed up the steepest stairs, to hear nothing but creaking inside as we sat and explored the cute little things they had. There were multiple windows we could open, a heater for the cold nights, very little room to walk (outside the door is a little chair you can relax on in the cool crips morning), a full bed, a bucket to holster up all of our belongings, and a small old TV with outlets for us to charge our electronics.

Our first night was a huge success, despite the cold morning, we were super cozy and warm each night. We woke up early, had some granola and yogurt for breakfast (we kept our cold items in the mini-fridge they had), packed our snacks and items we needed for our hikes, and headed off to Mt. Rainier just down the road. I purchased the annual pass (the more cost-effective option). The pass cost $80 and to enter each park is $35. (In Washington there are multiple National Parks including Olympic National Park). Every view you can get of the mountain peak is incredible. We stopped as much as possible and found some of the most breathtaking views and peaceful streams. The hikes are no joke (especially for me that does not like to be signed up for cardio haha).

We had sandwiches, cheese and crackers, granola, bananas, and a salad for dinner.

I had left my hiking shoes at the property and hadn’t realized until we drove hours to our next destination.
