What are the ways I can earn AAdvantage miles?

• Utilizing an AAdvantage Credit Card
• Earn 5 base miles per dollar on the ticket price on flights marketed by American.*
  • *Excluding government-imposed taxes and fees, Basic Economy fares earn 2 miles per dollar.
• Through partner airline flights
  • You can redeem American Airlines Advantage miles by entering your AAdvantage member number into the booking. View partner airlines + earning HERE
• American Airline or airline partner flights purchased through Expedia or Travelocity
• Booking Hotel Accommodations or Transportation with a partner company
• Earn benefit miles form certain promotions

Ways you cannot earn points:

• Booking on third party travel portals such as Chase or CapitalOne
• Flights booked with AAdvantage miles

How can I add my member# to my Expedia or Hotels.com booking?

• You can add your member#’s for all airlines within the App
  • Expedia App: Account>Profile>Reward Programs
  • Travelocity: Profile>My Account Info>My Travel Details>Frequent Flyer and Membership
• You can add your member# for the airline during the check-out process for both sites.
• Once purchased from Expedia or Hotels.com, add your flight to the respected airlines phone app where you are signed into your member#, and edit Flyer information > add your frequent flyer number.

World of Hyatt

You can see all participating Airlines HERE – specifically, as a base line you can earn 500 AAdvantage miles while staying at a participating World of Hyatt location. You can add your Airline member# within the World of Hyatt App to earn, and even if you did not book on a World of Hyatt app or website, you can add your booking to the app.

You can transfer World of Hyatt points to American Airlines for a 2.5:1 ratio. Meaning, 5,000 World of Hyatt Points convert to 2,000 American Airline miles.

Marriott Bonvoy

You can earn 1-2 points per $1 spent on Marriott Bonvoy Hotels, please see HERE within AAdvantage to see what participating hotels fall into the 1 and 2 point category.

You can transfer Marriott Bonvoy points to American Airlines for a 3:1 ratio. Meaning, 30,000 World of Hyatt Points convert to 10,000 American Airline miles.
